Football on Field for 2021 NFL Season

As the 2021 NFL season quickly approaches on September 9 and with preseason already underway, things are really ramping up for pro football fans. Find out everything we know about the upcoming season, including the 2021 NFL Schedule, key dates, pro football contests to participate in, and more. After an interesting year of sports, we’re excited to be back!

2021 NFL Season Schedule

This year, the NFL season will be broken out into 17 games for the first time, a departure from the typical 16-game season seen since 1978. Every team will play 17 games with one bye week and host10 games – either nine regular-season games and one preseason game or eight regular-season games and two preseason games. The change will also result in the league reducing preseason games from four to three. According to the NFL, each team’s opponents are set based on these criteria for the regular season:

  • Home and away against its three division opponents (six games)
  • The four teams from another division within its conference on a rotating three-year cycle (four games)
  • The four teams from a division in the other conference on a rotating four-year cycle (four games)
  • Two intraconference games based on the prior year’s standings (two games)
  • One interconference game based on the prior year’s standings on a rotating four-year cycle (one game)
