One year in, Colorado sports betting booms — but tax revenue sags by Ed Sealover of Denver Business Journal
“Still, the mood after one year is a celebratory one for folks like Derek Stevens, owner of casino/sportsbook company Circa Sports, who entered into a partnership with Century Casinos Inc. to operate the sports-betting apps for its Central City and Cripple Creek casinos. He said that the success of playoff-bound teams like the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche certainly helped to propel revenues for companies like his, but he said his success came with minimal marketing, and he believes the betting market only will expand as people become more aware of the opportunities and return to casinos more. ‘I think that Colorado in general is a very early-stage market,’ the Las Vegas-based Stevens said. ‘And I think it’s going to grow a lot more.’“
