Manny Pacquiao’s upset loss results in big win for sportsbooks by Todd Dewey of Las Vegas Review-Journal
“Circa sportsbook operations manager Jeff Benson said the odds climbed amid speculation after the weigh-in that Ugas might have had a torn bicep. ‘That number steamed a little bit given that Ugas looked like he had a swollen bicep at the weigh-in,’ Benson said. ‘With any Manny Pacquiao fight, you see a lot of public money on him in straight bets or parlays. Any time you can get an underdog to win when Pacquiao is fighting, it’s certainly going to be a good result for the book.’“

Circa Sports faces $7.2M overlay in football contests by Todd Dewey of Las Vegas Review-Journal
Circa Sports is putting up an unprecedented $10 million in guaranteed prize money for its two $1,000-entry NFL handicapping contests. A little more than two weeks before the NFL season opener, the downtown sportsbook is staring at a $7.2 million overlay. Circa had 1,554 entries Monday in the Circa Million III, which needs 4,000 entries to meet its $4 million guarantee. The book had 1,237 entries in Circa Survivor, which needs 6,000 entries to meet its $6 million guarantee.
‘We’re tracking at a good pace on the Circa Million. Historical data shows that we usually do 70 to 75 percent of the sign-ups in the last two weeks,’ Circa sportsbook operations manager Jeff Benson said.”
