Much ado about a nothing line in the Rebel by Ron Flatter of VSiN.com

“Another futures bookie is gone. This one hurts. Paul Zilm, the man most responsible for Circa Sports becoming a serious competitor in horse-racing futures, is leaving his job. His last day is Sunday, March 21. Family matters have Zilm’s attention. He is getting married next year, and before that his daughter graduates from high school. While Zilm might still have arm’s-length input on Circa’s Kentucky Derby futures, this is a body blow to the Las Vegas racebook scene.

Working with sportsbook director Matt Metcalf, Zilm took full advantage of owner Derek Stevens’s credo to sacrifice a big chunk of his casino’s hold in order to give customers true value in futures betting. Circa was the best thing to happen to racing since Johnny Avello left the Wynn – and his seminal Derby futures – to go to DraftKings Sportsbook 2½ years ago. Racing futures may be strictly niche, but Circa’s dedication to them came along last spring when they were sorely needed, at least to create some competition for William Hill Nevada.

Circa Sports to open satellite sportsbook at Tuscany by Mike Shoro of Las Vegas Review-Journal

“Derek Stevens, the owner of downtown Las Vegas’ newest resort, Circa, envisions his sports-betting brand growing across Nevada and the rest of the country. That expansion begins Monday when the off-strip Tuscany hotel-casino debuts the first Circa-branded satellite sportsbook, marking what Stevens called ‘the next step for Circa Sports here in Nevada.’ Tuscany’s sportsbook, located at 255 E. Flamingo Road, will be Circa’s first outside of Stevens’ hotel-casino properties in downtown Las Vegas, which include Circa, Golden Gate and D Las Vegas. Circa’s second satellite will be in Henderson at The Pass, formerly Eldorado Casino, and is set to open sometime next month, Stevens said during a phone interview last week.

“Casino owner Derek Stevens is ready to see his new sports betting brand grow to new heights. This installation will be the first Circa-branded satellite sportsbook.

Circa Sports Expands Retail Sportsbook Footprint in Southern Nevada by Devin O’Connor of Casino.org

The Circa Sports sportsbook at Tuscany will be much smaller. But it brings the Circa brand much closer to the Strip and provides its customers another location to place a physical wager or cash out their winnings.

Stevens says he hopes to open a Circa Sports location in May at The Pass in Henderson. The casino, which was formerly the Eldorado, is undergoing a rebranding and exterior makeover. It’s the largest of the three casinos on Henderson’s Water Street.

‘We look forward to potentially growing Circa Sports in some other Nevada locations as well,’ Stevens added. The ultimate goal, he says, is to ‘shorten the drive’ for all Nevadans to reach a Circa sportsbook.

Circa takes flurry of $10K sharp bets on NCAA Tournament by Todd Dewey of Las Vegas Review-Journal

“Before Derek Stevens opened Circa, the Las Vegas casino owner went on NCAA Tournament betting binges in which he would wager $11,000 to win $10,000 on each of the first 32 lines posted on Selection Sunday. To commemorate Stevens’ tradition, Circa sportsbook took $10,000 limit bets on its mobile app Sunday on the opening lines of the NCAA Tournament. ‘We’re just trying to let people know that this is the place to come if you want to bet large amounts on the app and not have to plead your case for larger limits,’ Circa sportsbook director Matthew Metcalf said. ‘It went really well. We took a lot of action on the mobile app. We probably took about 50 $10,000 limit bets in the first hour.’
