What to Do for New Year’s Eve in Vegas

Jackpot Music Festival

Before the full Las Vegas NYE activities on the 31st, the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center will be closing out 2024 in epic fashion with a 2-day music festival on the last weekend of the year. On December 27-28, the Jackpot music festival returns for a third year, bringing an incredible lineup to the stage. EDM fans will be able to catch names like Apashe, DJ Diesel, Eater, Rezz, and Slander. It’s going to be two crazy nights of music that will get you going for an epic final few days of 2024, right through to 2025.

Legacy Club Countdown in the Clouds New Year’s Eve Party

With views of the Strip and Downtown Las Vegas, Legacy Club rooftop bar offers the best views of the city and some of the best-crafted cocktails any night of the year. This is no exception on New Year’s Eve, where everything is taken to the next level for an experience like no other. This year, the rooftop lounge is putting on one of the most extravagant Las Vegas New Year’s Eve parties that will make you feel like you’re on the top of the world as you close out the year and welcome the next.

Enjoy incredible views of Vegas and an open bar with specialty cocktails, beer, and wine for a truly elevated way to say goodbye to 2024 and hello to 2025.

People Watching Las Vegas Fireworks Show on New Year’s Eve

Downtown Las Vegas NYE Fireworks

Start 2025 with a bang by marveling at the Plaza’s annual fireworks show that goes off right at midnight. The hotel offers multiple viewing areas of their explosive extravaganza, but you can also enjoy the fireworks from across Downtown Las Vegas – whether you’re walking around the Fremont Street Experience or celebrating at Legacy Club. If you’re staying at Circa Resort and want to have a relaxing night to ring in the new year, you’ll have a great vantage point overlooking Stadium Swim® and the Plaza Hotel New Year’s Eve fireworks display.

Time of Your Life Festival at Fremont Street Experience

As we move forward into 2025, why not have the time of your life? Ring in the new year with a can’t-miss dance party at the Fremont Street Experience’s Time of Your Life Festival. Grab a drink at Circa Bar and catch awesome performances from some big names, including Flo Rida, Locash, Bow Wow, Trick Daddy, Mike Jones, 3OH!3, Dylan Marlowe, and more! This 21+ event will be one of the biggest Las Vegas New Year’s Eve parties as the official NYE party of the City of Las Vegas, bringing together all of Downtown Las Vegas to send off 2024.

Dinner at Barry’s Downtown Prime

Whether you pregame your midnight celebrations or want to close out 2024 with one of the best meals of the year, Barry’s Downtown Prime is the place to be. On New Year’s Eve, the prix fixe menu will be showing off all the finest and most unique options the restaurant has to offer, from Philly cheesesteak egg rolls made with filet mignon to really taking your meal to the next level with a 22 ounce Robins Island ribeye. Pair your meal with a craft cocktail or a bottle of champagne from the extensive wine list – it is New Year’s Eve in Vegas, after all!

Countdown at the Sphere

One of the newest additions to the Las Vegas New Year’s Eve celebrations is the countdown on the Sphere. In 2023, the sphere showed a digital globe to show New Year’s Eve countdowns for different time zones across the world. This year, the screen will carry on the new tradition of displaying the NYE countdown on the largest screen in the world, leading into the fireworks display across the city. If you happen to be out and about and have a view of the screen, be sure to count down with everyone around!

New Year’s Eve Fireworks on The Strip

As the clock strikes 12 midnight, the Strip will show off its New Year’s Eve fireworks celebration. The 2025 Las Vegas Strip fireworks display calls for fireworks to be shot from nine casino rooftops this year – ARIA, Caesars Palace, Fontainebleau, MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood, Resorts World, The STRAT, Treasure Island, and The Venetian. The fireworks show will last approximately 10 minutes and consist of more than 80,000 fireworks explosions choreographed to popular music that will make for a one-of-a-kind audio and visual performance to send off 2024.

What to Expect for a Las Vegas New Year’s Eve

Crowds & Road Closures

A big night calls for big crowds. More than 400,000 people are projected to ring in 2025 on the Las Vegas Strip, which is closed to traffic from Russell Road to Sahara Avenue beginning at 6pm. The nearly six-mile stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard turns into a giant block party of people celebrating on the streets and ringing in the New Year. If you’re trying to get around town other than on-foot, the Las Vegas monorail and rideshare options like Uber and Lyft will be your best bet – but expect longer wait times and surge pricing.

Prices

New Year’s Eve is the most popular night of the year to visit Vegas. It’s also the most expensive. Hotels can triple or quadruple their usual costs, cover fees for clubs and bars will be higher, and catching a ride will be more expensive. Many celebrations require a paid reservation in advance, and some drinks and a champagne toast may be included in the reservation cost. Be prepared to drop some money as the ball drops! Experiencing the glitz and glam of Las Vegas while the fireworks go off as you toast champagne is totally worth it, though.

What to Wear

Even though Las Vegas weather will seem warm compared to where most people are traveling from, the desert gets cold and breezy at night. Layers are a huge plus when it comes to winter in Vegas. You’ll want to pack your favorite going-out looks and pair them with jackets and anything else that keeps you warm outside. If you’re going to an event, check the dress code to ensure you’re dressed appropriately. Another thing to remember: wear comfortable shoes! With roads closed off and a night of partying and walking, you want to avoid painful feet.

Above all else, expect to have fun! New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas is one of the most exciting experiences you can have. Parties everywhere you look, 6 miles of celebration, new friends all around you, larger-than-life champagne toasts, and huge fireworks displays all make for a Las Vegas NYE celebration that will start off 2025 in the best way possible. Be sure to make your party reservations and stay at Circa Resort to be in the middle of all the action. Join us to ring in the new year and have the time of your life!
