Vegas Makes a Comeback by James Albert of Fintech Zoom

“In the meantime, on the horizon, Circa Resort & On line casino, will debut October 28, 2020. Paying homage to Las Vegas’ vibrant historical past, Circa will likely be a ‘modern casino experience founded on the original principles of old-school hospitality. Fusing the glamour of vintage Vegas with modern luxuries and cutting-edge technology, guests can expect top-notch entertainment while enjoying honest, attentive and friendly service,’ say resort executives.

Split Schedule Allows Work to Continue at Circa by Doug Puppel of ENR Southwest

Facing supply-chain challenges and COVID-19 safety restrictions, developers of the $1-billion Circa took an unprecedented step this spring and opted for two completion dates. The casino, pool deck, sportsbook, restaurants and other revenue-generating areas of the property will open in October, while the 777-room hotel tower will have 512 of its rooms coming online near the end of the year.

Circa, which will be the first new resort built in downtown Las Vegas in 40 years, had been on track for an ahead-of-schedule Thanksgiving completion, according to co-owner Derek Stevens, with the tower adding a floor a week in late 2019. He says the construction team was able to refocus that energy and pursue two completion dates instead of one.

It has been hailed as an important element in reviving the downtown area.

“VSiN, which was co-founded by Brian Musburger, the nephew of long-time sports commentator Brent Musburger, has found its niche in the sports world and has quickly become an established name in the industry. After getting its start in Las Vegas in 2017, where it holds daily broadcasts from the South Point Casino, it launched on Sirius radio and made a debut in XFL broadcasting before the league threw in the towel. It now has plans to launch a new live sports gambling show, Betting Across America, in conjunction with BetMGM, provided regulators greenlight the project, and will put up a second Vegas-based studio this fall at the Circa Resort once the venue opens.

The downtown casino district is undergoing a revival with the construction of the $1-billion Circa Resort. The casino district is centered on Fremont Street, known as Glitter Gulch.

The Circa is being built at the western end of Fremont Street in one of the historic parts of the city, near where the now-demolished train station once stood. The Plaza hotel-casino, then called the Union Plaza, was built at the site of the train station in 1971 and is still in operation.

The Circa will also be the site of a second Vegas Stats and Information (VSiN) studio. The sports handicapping and analysis network, launched in 2017 by veteran broadcaster Brent Musburger, has a studio at the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip inside the South Point Casino.
