Chef Dan Coughlin will open his highly anticipated pan-Asian eatery 8 East at Circa Resort & Casino two months ahead of schedule on October 28. Inspired by metropolitan Asian food markets, the dining destination will span Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Thai dishes in a hip, high-energy atmosphere punctuated by great music and rare spirits.

“Circa Resort and Casino has cleared its final hurdle to begin operating next month as the first hotel-casino in 40 years built from the ground up in downtown Las Vegas. After hearing from owner Derek Stevens, the Nevada Gaming Commission on Thursday unanimously granted licensing approval for the resort. Circa will begin operating in two phases. The casino portions will open Oct. 28. Many of the resort’s 777 hotel rooms will open before the end of the year, Stevens told the commissioners in a videoconference.

The Circa Resort Casino received approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission and was granted a license to open its doors to the public on October 28. The Nevada Gaming Control Board initially approved the casino for licensing on September 9, and the vote on September 24 was unanimous. The casino’s owner Derek Stevens has several other venues in the State, including the D Las Vegas and the Golden Gate. Stevens said: ‘Circa is about moments and we’re going to create moments.’

The Commissioner for Gaming, Deborah J. Fuetsch, added: ‘In a crazy year like 2020, this is a positive. Something new and exciting is what we need down in Las Vegas.’
